Supplier switching procedure

Switching suppliers without changing the customer at the consumption point

We will switch supplier on your behalf based on a signed contract with our company.

In order for us to prepare a contract, we need the following documents:

  • contract with the present supplier;
  • last bill from the present supplier;
  • possible amendments to the contract.

Your details:

  • name and surname/company name;
  • date of birth/Id. No.;
  • telephone number;
  • e-mail;
  • address of residence or registered office of the company and mailing address, if different;
  • account number for sending overpayments.

On the basis of these details, we will prepare a contract for combined electricity/gas supply services.

The contract will include a power of attorney based on which we will send a notice of termination to your present supplier.

We will set up the date of commencement of supplies so that it follows up continuously on the previous contract.

In order for us to prepare everything, we need you to provide us with the following documents:

  • former customer’s contract with his/her supplier and/or the last bill;
  • document on relationship to the property (purchase contract, lease contract, donation agreement, extract from the Land Registry, etc.);
  • delivery protocol.

Your details:

  • name and surname/company name;
  • date of birth/Id. No.;
  • telephone number;
  • e-mail;
  • address of residence or registered office of the company and mailing address, if different;
  • and account number for sending overpayments.

Details of the former customer:

  • name and surname/company name;
  • date of birth/Id. No.;
  • address of residence/registered office of the company.

Based on these details, we will prepare a contract for combined electricity/gas supply services, power of attorney to conclude a new contract for connection to a distribution system, power of attorney from the current customer for terminating the contract with his/her supplier and power of attorney from the current customer for terminating the contract for connection to a distribution system.

If it is not possible to obtain signed power of attorney from the former customer, such signature can be substituted by an affirmation of the property owner.

The supplier switching with customer change at the consumption point takes usually 35-40 days.

Consumer switching at the consumption point without supplier change

If you need to transfer energy supplies at a consumption point which we already supply to, it is very easy.

You only need to provide us with the current contract number and details of the new customer:

  • name and surname/company name;
  • date of birth/Id. No.;
  • telephone number;
  • e-mail;
  • address of residence or registered office of the company and mailing address, if different;
  • account number for sending overpayments.

Based on these details, we will prepare a contract for the new customer, a power of attorney for the new customer so that we can conclude a new contract for connection to a distribution system on his/her behalf and, in some cases, a power of attorney for terminating the contract for connection on your behalf.

Meter readings for supplier/customer change at the consumption point

For a supplier change, we recommend making a note of the meter readings – a photograph of the electricity meter and gas meter.

It is necessary to make sure that the meter number and the measured consumption is clearly visible on the photograph. Subsequently, send the photograph to e-mail customer@rayenergy.cz.

ATTENTION – Regarding electricity, the electricity meter consecutively shows high tariff and low tariff consumption. Do not forget to take a photo of both readings (they are mostly designated as “VT” and “NT” or “T1” and “T2”).

Distribution system operators and suppliers

There are 2 types of entities operating on the market – distribution system operators and suppliers.

A distribution system operator is assigned to the consumption point automatically depending on the area where the consumption point is located. The customer cannot choose the distribution area to which his/her consumption point will belong and must conclude a contract for connection to a distribution system with the respective distribution system operator in order for the electricity meter/gas meter to be installed at the consumption point.

There are 3 main electricity distribution system operators operating in the Czech Republic (ČEZ distribuce, a.s., EG.D a.s. and Pražská energetika a.s.) and 3 main gas distribution system operators (GasNet, s.r.o., EG.D a.s. and Pražská plynárenská distribuce a.s.).

In a nutshell: The distribution system operator will ensure that your consumption point is connected to the distribution network.

Suppliers are entities from which the customers purchase the actual commodity – electricity or gas. Ray Energy is an example of such an entity. Customers may choose any supplier regardless of distribution area in which the consumption point is located.

Payments for energy

Although the customer concludes contracts with 2 entities to be able to consume the commodity, it only receives a bill for services from the supplier.

This is ensured by the fact that the customer concludes a contract for combined electricity/gas supply services with the supplier which includes both the commercial component of the price which is determined by the supplier and the so-called regulated component of the price which the supplier pays, on behalf of the customer, to the distribution system operator.

The prices for distribution system services are stipulated annually by the Price Decision of the Energy Regulatory Office.

Invoice

The structure of the bill is defined by the applicable legislation and consists of 3 parts – basic part, detailed part and accompanying part.

The first page of the bill will always give the most important information – total consumption at the consumption point and the result of the bill – overpayment or underpayment and its amount.

On the next pages, you will find a detailed breakdown of individual payments in both the regulated and commercial part.

You will also find a summary of advance payments made which are included in the bill, as well as a summary of advance payments prescribed for the next period.

When do regular meter readings at consumption points take place?

The date of regular meter readings does not change with the change of supplier or customer. Ordinary meter readings and their dates are determined by the distribution system operators.
